What always amuses me was the way that people especially young people like to fit in with the crowd and yet be different from everyone else. I am not naive enough to think that there is no one out there exactly like me. There are over 6 billion people on the earth there is bound to be someone close enough. When everyone tries so hard to be like everyone else it just makes me sad because normalcy is overrated. However what makes me laugh is when an entire group of people want to be individualistically different and so decide to be different together. What is the point now of being different if you end up being just like other people. Be yourself or else you will become something that you were trying to avoid.
I really loved chapel today with gospel music. What was a little unnerving was seeing some of the white people uncomfortable. The only difference between most white churches and most black churches is passion. With gospel music people sing from the bottom of their toes and with all of their heart. Don't believe me? Compare the singing styles of Whitney Houston compared to John Mayer. What makes me sad are the people who sat there a little shaken because they had never heard anyone deviate from traditional songs by spicing it up a little. Maybe we should all step out of ourselves and experience new cultures and new ways of doing things that we do everyday. Look up some MaryMary, Kirk Franklin, or even Group 1 Crew. It might surprise you or you could just think that I'm crazy.
P.S. Shouldn't all Christian music be considered Gospel considering they are singing about the "good news?"

Amen sister!!! I loved chapel today because it was passionate, and it shouldn't matter what type of worship is being presented. I am so thankful that we can worship any way we please, and God loves us just the same.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to chapel today. But I do agree with you. Good point.
