Strangely enough every day strange words are heard such as "I'm tired" or "I have so much work to do." I say strange because these words in conjunction to something about having a good time is a little odd. Complaining about work is not a sin and I don't claim it to be. However, how quick are we to go and do something fun rather than do what would be more beneficial to us? Has our society put so much emphasis on fun and not enough on careers and education? Sometimes I admire how driven the Asian society as a whole is driven to be the best and complete perfection, whereas other cultures get by on the bare minimum that needs to be done. Why? Because we don't want to do it all. We don't want to take the time. America knows more song lyrics than they do poetry (I understand sometimes its both). Also we can quote movie lines back and forth but have trouble remembering how to write a paper a certain way.
People spend a great deal of time focused on the pleasure and good times of life and then when painful times come they seem surprised and angry at the fact that life is not utopia. Who told them that life is paradise because I would like to give them a swift kick in the......knee. How many times do we find things to fill up our time and yet get angry when we have to stand in line at a store? Where are our priorities? If life smelled like roses all around I have news for you, we would all be sneezing incessantly.
P.S. seizing the day often involves not going to bed at 9 unless you woke up and hit the ground running at 5

Very good. This is true. I often wonder what even college would be like if we had such restrictions that virtual entertainment was not allowed and strictly enforced along with an early curfew for all. I know that forced responsibility isn't always fun but for some it seems it would be more beneficial if it were required. But then again, it is college and people shouldn't have to be babysat all of their lives. There comes a time when people should learn to grow up and take responsibility (and by that I mean in a more strict sense than our culture has led us to believe when we hear the word). But with media and entertainment having such a high and only increasing demand, I begin to wonder if we can get ourselves off of this downward slope we have put ourselves on.
also, the only way to make a change is to start with an individual. Kudos to you for making it clear that you want to make a change.
